Balsamiq - Super Sweet UI Mockup Tool

It just so happens that the day I decided to start this blog, I ran into a really awesome UI mockup tool called Balsamiq.  It looks extremely promising.

See the demo video below:

On the website, the author shows several mockups of current interfaces, including iTunes and YouTube.  All of these interfaces where mockedup using the standard widgets provided by Balsamiq.  I think one of my favorite aspects of it is the fact that everything appears hand drawn.  It gives the mockups that rough edge look of a hand drawing with the convenience of a computer designed one.

I did a little testing of my own and found the tool to be pretty robust.  I was able to put together a few semi-complicated mockups in only a few minutes.  One thing I didn't like was the price tag.  It's about $80, which I know is cheap relative to some software but I'm used to open source (free as in free beer).  I'm not sure if there is a comparable mockup tool available in the open source world, but Balsamiq seems like it's worth the price.
